Becca Bolscher

becca bolscher’s work is driven by the intuitive journey of discovery.

she strives to capture the small and often overlooked details of new zealand’s wild and whimsical flora and fauna by creating layered and tactile surfaces.

the methods of her work require an absolute labour of love, every piece being hand drawn, cut and individually attached. her aim is to transform everyday materials to create ‘one off’ works that invite the viewer to see beyond its original purpose.

becca graduated with a bachelor of visual arts at auckland university in 2011.

she has two works in the auckland district health board trust collection and a permanent sculpture at the fo guang shan temple in botany’s flat bush which was made in collaboration with james wright.

in april 2016 becca and her brother ben bolscher were winners of the art in structure ’emerging designer’ competition with their sculptural design ‘floral fusion’

this work was be made by easy steel and auctioned off to raise money for ronald mcdonald house in 2017.
