Tony Smith

tony smith has been a tv news and current affairs cameraman for the past 34 years, starting with tvnz in dunedin in 1979, training as a film camera assistant.

he has worked in all the main centers on a huge range of programmes like 20/20, 60 minutes, documentaries and music videos.

seven years ago tony took up still photography and drags his kit around all over the country while on assignment hoping to capture that shot where the subject, the foreground, background and the right light all co-operate to produce a winner.

sadly tony passed away on the 21 sept 2021 after a long battle with cancer.  currently we still have a selection of tony’s photographic prints, photographic prints on canvas and cards, available here in the gallery.
