Catherine Edwards

catherine started felting twenty years ago.  it was at the time nuno felting was becoming more prominent and the group she was working with were using fine cotton fabric.  having worked with silk, catherine immediately thought silk fabric would work.

thus the experimenting started with different silk fabrics and different wool fibre.

catherine’s choice of wool fibre now is top quality very fine merino, with or without tussah silk fibre combined.  she combines this with silk fabric ranging from a fine silk tissue to a paj silk and embellished with silk fibre.

catherine sketches each design but in the process of laying the design out it takes on a design life of its own.

her original thoughts and ideas tend to be botanical, often sparked by her own garden which is over 3 hectares.

every scarf is unique and no two can be made the same.
