POWELLIPHANTA

the native new zealand carnivorous hermaphrodite snail are among the largest snails in the world, and can live for 20 years. their oversize shells range in hues of red and brown to yellow and black.

they lay 5 to 10 large eggs (up to 12mm long) per year which are like birds eggs.

(no snail was killed in the making of these glass versions. graeme was lucky enough to be given a wax version)
